- Are you interested in designing your own Arts degree?
- Do you have academic interests that span across several Arts disciplines?
- Do you have unique career goals in mind that will require broad and in-depth knowledge across several fields?
Interdisciplinary studies broadly encompass approaches to topics and the creation of knowledge through the application of methods and structures not confined by traditional academic boundaries.
The Arts Interdisciplinary Studies (IDST) program allows students to build a unique BA program around a central thematic or topical focus not covered by existing programs to pursue their individual academic and professional goals.
A student-designed program may be appropriate as preparation for advanced study in a wide range of professional fields, such as Journalism, Law, Library/Information Studies, Business, or even some health professions, including Counselling. Many graduate study programs expect applicants to have the specialized knowledge that comes from a degree in their specific field. Students who are considering eventually applying to graduate school should keep this in mind before applying to enter the IDST program.
Note: Please always refer to this program website for the most updated information about IDST as it is maintained directly by the unit.
